1. Fungus

Cause : by dampness

Solution :

  1. Treat affected areas with Fungicidal Wall Wash or household bleach solution.
  2. Remove as much as the algae and fungus by water jetting (1,500 psi) is COMPULSORY.
  3. Let the wall surface dry
  4. Repaint the walls – Must apply wall sealer (water-based, or better has  solvent-based), and follow by top coat (weather paint for exterior which is fungus resistant, and a premium grade paint for interior).

2. Chalking

Cause : used of a low grade, highly pigmented paint

Solution :

  1. Remove as much as the chalk by water jetting (1,500 psi) is COMPULSORY.
  2. Allow the wall surfae to dry
  3. Repaint the walls – Must apply wall sealer (water-based, or better has  solvent-based), and follow by top coat (weather paint for exterior which is fungus resistant, and a premium grade paint for interior).

 3. Flaking

– Cause : improperly cleaned wall, or moisture is trapped behind the paint film

Solution :

  1. Remove all loose and flaking particles, or use water jetting (1,500 psi)
  2. Locate the source of this moisture by checking the surrounding areas for leakages.
  3. Ensure all holes and cracks that appear are sealed, to prevent further release of moisture.
  4. Allow the wall surfae to dry
  5. Repaint the walls – Must apply wall sealer (water-based, or better has  solvent-based), and follow by top coat (weather paint for exterior which is fungus resistant, and a premium grade paint for interior).

4. Colour Difference / Fading

Cause : -use of a lower quality paint, leading to rapid degradation;

-using paint with very bright colour which especially vulnerable to UV radiation,
and thus fading (like certain bright reds, blues and yellows);

-application of paint to an alkaline surface without prior application of wall sealer.

Solution :

  1. Scrape and sand away all the loose paint
  2. Removes as much as the paint by water jetting (1,500 psi)
  3. Allow the wall surfae to dry
  4. Repaint the walls – Apply wall sealer (water-based, or better has  solvent-based), and follow by top coat (weather paint for exterior which is fungus resistant, and a premium grade paint for interior).
